It’s a 10 minute stroll to the lovely soft sands and gentle waves of Sandyhills beach on the Solway Firth, which is warmed by the Gulf Stream! The peaceful surroundings are a haven for wildlife. You can enjoy an active or chilled holiday here, with everything you need for a short break or longer stay. There’s lots to see and do nearby and delightful places to relax

Our 3 bedroomed house has a lovely homely feel and offers ideal self-catering accommodation in Castle Douglas. Unlike many self catering properties, we are conveniently right in the town, on a quiet side street, just along from the cafes, shops and restaurants with Carlingwark Loch (pictured) a short walk away. No need to get in the car to eat out in the evening, visit the microbrewery or buy in your provisions! We love having families to stay and provide games, children's books etc and a travel cot. Grandparents can come too as we sleep seven. It can rain as well as shine in Galloway so our cloakroom has a heater and dehumidifier, great if you are doing some walking or cycling. We suggest a number of walks, drives and cycles starting from the house. And our secure cycle store has room for up to 3 bicycles.

As its name suggests, the original ferrymaster's cottage stands in one acre of sheltered, lawned gardens, all south-facing and providing private access to Loch Ken.
